Halloween appetizers are honestly some of my favorite party food to plan. You get to have fun with how everything looks while still serving stuff people actually want to eat.
I put together this list of 15 Halloween appetizers and grouped them by type, so it’s easy to build out your spread. Pick a few from each group and you’ll have a table that feels full without being overwhelming.

Spooky Character Appetizers
These are the Halloween appetizers that really lean into the theme, mummies, eyeballs, and skulls included.
1. Antipasto Eyeballs
Thin slices of ham wrap around mozzarella balls, each one made to look like an eyeball with a green oil “iris” and a black olive “pupil.”
I like setting these out on a bed of sun-dried tomatoes with a drizzle of balsamic glaze on top. A little spider prop nearby makes them even creepier.
You can assemble these a few hours ahead and keep them chilled until it’s time to serve.

2. Sausage Mummies
Sausages get wrapped in strips of puff pastry, baked until golden, then finished with candy eyes stuck on with a little honey. They really do look like tiny mummies.
These are great piled on a platter next to a bowl of “spider web” marinara for dipping.
You can wrap them ahead and keep them in the fridge, then bake right before your party starts.

3. Witch Finger Breadsticks
This one is breadstick dough shaped into knobby fingers, with an almond pressed into the tip for a fingernail, then brushed with butter and garlic salt.
I love standing these up in a tall jar or laying them out on a platter with a red dip nearby, so they look like they’re reaching out of a pool of blood.
The dough can be shaped and baked ahead, then warmed slightly before serving.

4. Mummy Jalapeño Poppers
Jalapeño halves get filled with a cheesy filling, wrapped in strips of dough, and topped with candy eyes once they come out of the oven.
I like lining these up on a platter with a napkin underneath so the eyes stay put and don’t slide around.
You can stuff and wrap these ahead of time, then bake them right before guests arrive.

5. Mummy Puff Pastry Cheese Pizzas
Round mini pizzas get wrapped in crisscrossed puff pastry strips, with candy eyes peeking out from under the “bandages.”
Serve these warm on a big platter with a small bowl of marinara for dipping. They also pair really well next to Sausage Mummies if you want a full mummy spread.
You can assemble these ahead and refrigerate them, then bake right before serving so the pastry stays crisp.

6. Skull Potatoes
Small potatoes get carved into skull faces before roasting, then seasoned with a smoky paprika blend that gives them a deep red-orange color.
I like piling these into a bowl or basket with a skeleton hand prop tucked in. They’re easy to grab straight off the table with a toothpick.

Pumpkin-Shaped Appetizers
Pumpkins are such an easy way to bring fall into your spread, and these Halloween appetizers all lean into that shape.
7. Halloween Mini Pizzas
These are small homemade pizzas decorated a few different ways, spiders made from black olives, jack-o’-lantern faces from pepperoni, and mummies wrapped in string cheese.
I like arranging a mix of all three styles on one big platter so guests can grab whichever design they like best.
The dough and toppings can be prepped ahead of time, then baked fresh right before your party.

8. Pumpkin Cheeseball
A savory cream cheese base gets shaped and ridged to look like a pumpkin, then coated in something like paprika, herbs, or everything seasoning, with a thyme sprig stem on top.
This Halloween appetizer makes such a pretty centerpiece. I like setting a few small ones out on a board with crackers fanned around them.
These can be made a day or two ahead and kept chilled, which makes party day so much easier.

9. Jack-o’-Lantern Quesadillas
A quesadilla with a jack-o’-lantern face cut right into the top tortilla, so the filling shows through the cutout underneath.
I like cutting these into wedges and fanning them out on a plate so the faces are easy to see, with a small bowl of salsa or dip on the side.
You can cut the faces into the tortillas ahead of time and keep them stacked flat until you’re ready to cook.

10. Pizza-Stuffed Pumpkins
Dough balls get filled with a cheesy pizza filling, tied with kitchen twine to create pumpkin ridges, then finished with a pretzel stick stem.
These look great piled into a basket or arranged on a board with a small bowl of marinara alongside for dipping.

11. Halloween Taco Dip Cups
Individual clear cups get layered with guacamole, sour cream, salsa, cheese, and pico, each one topped with a black olive spider.
I like lining these up on a tray so each guest can just grab their own cup, no serving spoon needed. Set a bowl of tortilla chips right alongside.

12. Halloween Charcuterie Board
A big board filled with cured meats, cheeses, crackers, and fresh produce, plus fun extras like a bat-shaped cheese dip and a ghost-shaped whipped cheese.
This is such a great centerpiece for the table. I like tucking a skeleton hand and a few spider picks around the edges to really lean into the theme.
Most of the pieces can be prepped ahead, so you’re really just assembling the board right before guests arrive.

Fresh Bites & Party Starters
Not every Halloween appetizer needs a spooky shape. These round out the table with something a little lighter.
13. Beet Bruschetta with Goat Cheese and Basil
Toasted baguette slices get topped with a whipped goat cheese base and a diced balsamic beet and basil relish.
This Halloween appetizer looks so pretty set out on a wood board, with a small bowl of the beet mixture nearby so guests can add more if they want.

14. Halloween Pasta Salad
Orange, black, pink, and white bowtie pasta gets tossed with fresh herbs and crunchy veggies in a light vinaigrette.
This one looks great in a big bowl right on the table, and it’s easy for guests to serve themselves. It also adds a nice pop of color next to the other appetizers.
This is one you can make ahead of time, since it’s just as good served cold or at room temperature.

15. Red Devil Cocktail Meatballs
Glossy, dark red glazed meatballs get sprinkled with black sesame seeds, coated in a sweet, tangy, and spicy sauce.
I like serving these in a shallow dish with toothpicks right next to it, so they’re easy to grab and eat in one bite.
You can make the meatballs ahead and reheat them in the sauce right before your party.
