The Theme, Color Palette & Overall Aesthetic

The color palette is everything with a Bridgerton themed party. Think baby blue, blush, lavender, and sage – all soft, romantic tones that feel very Lady Whistledown’s London. Gold accents and soft ivory pull it all together without making the space feel too busy or overdone.

Floral patterns are just as important as fresh flowers here. Think floral prints on menus, napkins, and your backdrop. The whole space should feel romantic, vintage, and layered with texture – not minimal and spare.

Decoration Ideas

Table Styling

Getting your tables right sets the tone for the whole party. These are the details guests will notice first when they sit down, so it’s worth putting a little extra thought into each one.

Vintage Glassware

I love using vintage glassware for a Bridgerton party. Mismatched pieces actually work better than a matching set – they give the table that layered, collected-over-time feel that’s so true to the Regency aesthetic. Check your local thrift stores first. You’ll be amazed at what you find.

Thrifted China Plates and Teacups

Thrifted china is one of my favorite finds for this theme. You can usually pick up beautiful sets for very little, and the variety of patterns adds so much character to the table. It looks like you spent a fortune, even when you didn’t.

Paper Doilies

Paper doilies are such an easy, inexpensive detail. Layer them under plates or desserts for an instant vintage look. They take about five seconds to set out and make a huge difference in photos.

Bow Details

I love adding bow details to napkins, chairs, or around cutlery. It’s a simple touch but it reads as very intentional and very Bridgerton. A small satin or lace bow tied onto a napkin ring is really all you need to make it work.

Lace or Embroidered Tablecloths

A lace or embroidered tablecloth sets the whole table. It doesn’t have to be expensive – a simple lace overlay on top of a white cloth works perfectly. It adds texture and that soft, romantic quality that’s so central to this look.

Floral and Pattern-Focused Decor

Florals are the heart of a Bridgerton themed party – and that goes beyond just fresh flowers. Here’s how to work them into every corner of your space.

Fresh Garden-Style Arrangements

Garden-style flower arrangements are the go-to for a Bridgerton themed party. Roses, peonies, and hydrangeas in blush, white, and lavender are absolutely perfect. Arrange them loosely and abundantly – you want them to look like they were just gathered from a summer garden.

Floral Prints Incorporated Everywhere

One thing I always suggest for this theme is bringing floral prints into everything. Printed menus, floral napkins, a floral patterned backdrop – the more you layer these details, the richer and more cohesive the whole space feels.

Mix Real Flowers and Printed Florals

I’ve found that mixing real flowers with printed floral elements gives you a much more layered, interesting overall look. The print becomes part of the decor itself, not just a background. It’s a really clever way to make the theme feel intentional throughout the whole space.

Statement Decor Pieces

Every great Bridgerton party needs a few wow-factor pieces that anchor the space. These are the items guests photograph and talk about after the event.

Thrifted Vintage Mirrors

Thrifted vintage mirrors are one of my favorite statement pieces for this party style. Lean them against a wall, style them with a ribbon or a small flower crown, and they instantly become a focal point. They also make gorgeous photo backdrops on their own.

Vintage Frames for Signage

Using vintage frames for menus, welcome signs, and quotes is such a lovely touch. You can find these at thrift stores for almost nothing and give them a quick coat of gold spray paint. It ties into the antique aesthetic without a lot of effort or expense.

Candlesticks and Candelabras

Candlesticks and candelabras add so much drama and romance to the tables. You don’t need to use real candles – battery-operated tapers look just as beautiful and are so much more practical for a daytime event. Stack them at different heights for the best effect.

Antique Book Stacks

I love using stacks of antique-looking books as part of the table decor. You can use them as risers for flower arrangements or candles, or just let them sit on their own. They add that scholarly, Regency-era feel that’s very on-brand for a Bridgerton themed party.

Backdrop Ideas

A good backdrop is basically the centerpiece of the whole party setup. These ideas are very Pinterest-friendly and not as hard to pull off as they look.

Backdrop Made from Mixed Floral Papers and Wallpapers

A backdrop made from layered floral papers or vintage wallpapers is one of the most pinnable things you can do for a Bridgerton themed party. Layer different vintage patterns together for a collage effect – it doesn’t have to be perfectly symmetrical. The more layers, the better it looks.

Add Bows, Frames, or Small Mirrors on Top

Once your paper backdrop is up, layer in some bows, a few vintage frames, or small mirrors on top of it. This turns a flat backdrop into something three-dimensional and really stunning. It’s the kind of detail that photographs beautifully from every angle.

Create a Lady Whistledown Corner

I love the idea of creating a dedicated Lady Whistledown corner – a styled spot with the backdrop, a vintage chair, and maybe a writing desk prop. Guests can take photos there and it gives the party a real storyline. It’s a fun way to bring the actual show into the event.

Elegant Details That Make a Difference

These are the small finishing touches that pull everything together. They’re easy to overlook, but guests always notice them.

Hand Fans Placed on Chairs or Tables

Hand fans are one of those details that are both decorative and practical. Place them on chairs or at each table setting, and guests will actually use them – especially at a warm-weather or outdoor event. They also add a really beautiful visual texture to the overall setup.

Ribbon Accents Tied Everywhere

I’ve found that ribbon accents might be the single best low-cost detail for this theme. Tie them on chairs, favor bags, menus, or napkin rings. Use satin or organza in your color palette and it instantly elevates everything around it.

Dress Code

Regency-Inspired Dresses

This is one of those themes where the dress code is genuinely half the fun. Encourage guests to wear flowy, empire-waist dresses in soft, romantic fabrics. Even a flowy floral sundress in the right color palette will fit right in.

Gloves, Pearls, and Delicate Jewelry

Gloves and pearls are such easy additions that really commit to the theme. Let guests know these are encouraged – a lot of people will love the excuse to wear them. Delicate layered necklaces and small earrings fit perfectly with the soft, feminine aesthetic.

Soft Curls or Updos

Suggest a soft hairstyle to guests – loose curls, braids, or a relaxed updo. It’s a small detail but it really completes the overall look, especially in photos. You could even include a simple hair suggestion on the invitation itself.

Pastel Color Palette for Guests

If you want a cohesive look in photos, suggest guests stick to the pastel color palette. Baby blues, blush, lavender, and sage all photograph beautifully together. It’s optional, but guests who do it will love how the group photos turn out.

Encourage Guests to Go Full Bridgerton for Photos

I always encourage a little extra commitment to costume for themed parties. Let guests know there will be a styled photo spot ahead of time, so they have real incentive to dress up. The photos become such a fun keepsake from the day.

Food Ideas: Afternoon Tea Style

Savory

Finger Sandwiches

Finger sandwiches are a must for a Bridgerton themed party. Cucumber with cream cheese, smoked salmon, and egg salad are all classic choices. Cut them into neat triangles or fingers and arrange them on tiered stands for maximum elegance.

Mini Quiches

Mini quiches are another great savory option that looks really polished on a spread. You can make them ahead of time and serve them warm or at room temperature. They’re easy for guests to eat while mingling, which is always a practical bonus.

Sweet

Scones with Jam and Cream

Scones are basically non-negotiable for an afternoon tea spread. Serve them warm with a good strawberry jam and clotted cream, and your guests will be very happy. This is the most classic, most Bridgerton-appropriate sweet on the whole table.

Macarons

Macarons are gorgeous for this theme – they come in all the right colors and look beautiful arranged on a tiered tray. Go for blush, lavender, and pale blue to match your color palette. They’re also surprisingly easy to source from a local bakery if you don’t want to make them yourself.

Mini Cakes

Mini individual cakes are such a fun, indulgent detail. Each guest gets their own little cake, which feels really special and celebratory. Decorate them with simple floral details or buttercream piping in soft pastel shades.

Floral-Decorated Cookies

Floral-decorated sugar cookies are one of my favorite sweet details for this theme. They look incredible on a dessert table and double as a beautiful photo element. Order them from a local cookie artist – they’re usually very affordable and absolutely worth it.

Drink Ideas

The Tea Moment

Earl Grey, Rose, and Chamomile

A proper tea service is central to the Bridgerton aesthetic. Offer a selection of loose-leaf teas – Earl Grey, rose, and chamomile are all perfect choices. Serve them in vintage teapots and let guests pour their own for that authentic afternoon tea feel.

Signature Drinks

Champagne and Elderflower

Champagne with elderflower cordial is one of those combinations that feels very Bridgerton without being at all complicated. It’s light, floral, and beautiful in a coupe glass. Add a small edible flower or a sprig of lavender for a pretty finishing touch.

Rosé

Rosé is such an easy choice for this theme – the color alone is perfect. Serve it chilled in a pretty pitcher or decanter and let guests help themselves. It works for the drinkers and the aesthetic at the same time.

Lavender Cocktails

A lavender cocktail – whether that’s a lavender gin fizz or a lavender lemonade mocktail – is a really beautiful addition to the drink menu. The color photographs so well and it fits the theme perfectly. This one tends to be a big hit with guests every time.

Party Favors

Vintage Mugs Filled with Tea Cookies

I love this favor idea so much. A vintage-style mug filled with tea cookies or biscuits is such a thoughtful, usable gift. It looks beautiful displayed on the favor table before guests pick up their own, and people actually use it long after the party is over.

Mini Jam or Honey Jars

Mini jam or honey jars are a really charming favor that fits perfectly with the afternoon tea theme. Tie a small ribbon around the lid and add a little tag with the date and occasion. They’re pretty, practical, and very giftable.

Personalized Tea Blends

A personalized tea blend in a small tin or kraft bag is a lovely keepsake. You can source custom tea blends from a lot of online shops and have them labeled with something fun – like “Lady [Name]’s Blend” – for an extra personal touch.

Floral Candles

Floral-scented candles in small tins or glass jars are another gorgeous favor option. Go for rose, peony, or lavender scents to match the theme. Tie a ribbon around the jar and they’re ready to hand out – no extra packaging needed.

Activities and Entertainment

Write Lady Whistledown Gossip Notes

One of my favorite activity ideas for a Bridgerton themed party is asking guests to write their own Lady Whistledown gossip notes. Set out parchment paper, wax seals, and nice pens at a small station. Guests write something funny or sweet about the guest of honor, and you collect them all as a keepsake.

Best Dressed Contest

A best dressed contest is a really fun way to reward the guests who go all-in on the costume. Put together a small prize – a little floral candle or a pretty ribbon bow – and let the group vote. It gives everyone extra incentive to really dress up, and it creates a fun moment at the party.

Hand Fan Painting Station

This is my favorite activity for this theme and honestly one of the most creative party activity ideas I’ve seen. Set out plain hand fans along with paints, markers, and fine-tipped brushes at a dedicated station.

Guests customize their own fan during the party and then take it home as their favor. It keeps people engaged throughout the event, it produces something genuinely beautiful, and it fits the Bridgerton world completely. This one is a standout idea worth highlighting in your invitations.

Final Tips

Mix Thrifted and DIY for a High-End Look on a Budget

One of the things I love most about this theme is that it genuinely rewards thrifting and DIY. Vintage china, old frames, antique books – these are all thrift store finds that look incredibly elegant in the right context. You can create a beautiful Bridgerton themed party without a big budget if you shop smart.

Layer Textures

The secret to making this theme look really rich is layering textures. Lace tablecloths, floral paper, fresh flowers, vintage glass – when you combine all of these in the same space, it creates something that feels very intentional and very luxurious. Don’t hold back here.

Don’t Be Afraid of Too Many Details

That’s the whole charm of a Bridgerton themed party – it’s supposed to feel abundant, layered, and a little maximalist. More bows, more florals, more candles. If it feels like a lot, it’s probably just right.
