Table numbers are one of those little details guests notice the second they sit down, so I always tell couples not to skip them.
Wedding table numbers can be as simple as a printed card or as personal as a photo from your favorite trip. They’re also an easy way to tie your whole table setup together without spending a lot.
I pulled together some of my favorite wedding table numbers, organized by style, so you can find something that actually fits your wedding instead of scrolling for hours. Whether you’re going modern and simple or full vintage romance, there’s something here for you.
Modern & Minimalist Table Numbers
If your wedding style leans clean and simple, these wedding table numbers let the details do the talking instead of shouting for attention.
1. Stone Slab Numbers
I love stone slab numbers if you want something clean and simple. Each one is a real piece of natural stone, broken so the edges look natural and a little uneven, kind of like the stone called travertine. The number is painted right on top in white.
You don’t need a stand for these. Just lay them flat on a table runner and let the shape do the work. They pair really well with dried flowers, small vases, and tall candles, especially if you’re using neutral or earthy colors.
2. Embossed Linen Number
Embossed linen numbers are a great pick if you want something simple and elegant. There’s no ink at all. The number is just pressed into the card so you can see its shape, without any color.
A small metal clip holds the card up, and that’s really all you need. Keep the rest of your table simple so the raised number gets to stand out, and pair it with plain linens or white and cream flowers.
3. Hanging Card Number
This one’s a sweet mix of modern and romantic. A thin gold stand holds a bar across the top, and a white card hangs from it with ribbon, with the number written in soft, colored handwriting.
The hanging design adds a little height to your table without needing a big centerpiece to back it up. I like pairing it with trailing ivy or soft greenery for a garden feel, and it works really well with soft, pastel colors.
Vintage & Heirloom-Inspired Table Numbers
For couples who love a little history in their decor, these vintage wedding table numbers add a warm, old-fashioned feel.
4. Vintage Book Number
If you love books, you’ll like this one. It’s a decorative book, or a box made to look like a book, in a rust or orange-brown color. It has a gold border with a lot of detail, and a big white number is painted right on the cover, tucked into a bunch of flowers.
I love pairing this with stacks of real old books and warm-colored flowers like peach, rust, and cream. It’s a great fit if you’re getting married in a library or an old, historic building.
Depending on your budget, this could be a hollow book-shaped box, an old book you already own, or a printed prop made to look like a book. All three options look great in photos.
5. Vintage Plate Number
Vintage plate numbers are perfect for a garden party or an old-fashioned, family-style wedding. You use a real antique plate with a gold or silver rim that has a lot of detail, and the number is written by hand right in the middle.
Stand it up on a small stand and pair it with other vintage plates that don’t all match. It still looks great together as long as the colors work well. It looks beautiful with soft flowers like hydrangea.
6. Lace Oval Number
I love how soft and pretty lace oval numbers feel. These are oval-shaped cards with the number spelled out in pretty cursive writing, like “Table Six” or “Table Three,” each one backed by a ruffled circle of lace.
Spelling the number out instead of using a numeral makes it feel a little more formal. Pair it with lace table runners or vintage china, and either prop it up in a simple stand or lay it flat on a plate.
7. Gold Mirror Frame Number
For a fancy, dressed-up wedding, I always suggest gold mirror frame numbers. It’s a small gold frame with a lot of detail, kind of like an old-fashioned mirror frame, and the number is written in white right on the glass.
The mirror reflects candlelight, so you get extra sparkle on the table without any extra work. Pair it with fancy glassware, floating candles, and gold silverware for a full, dressed-up look.
8. Painted Glass Number
Painted glass numbers are great if you love a little color and pattern. It’s a piece of glass painted to look like stained glass, with the number and a flower border worked right into the design, framed in gold and set on a small stand.
I love pairing these with warm-colored flowers like orange, yellow, and red, plus candle holders with little pearl beads. The colors really catch candlelight in a pretty way.
Garden & Handmade Table Numbers
These wedding table numbers use natural or handmade materials, so they feel warm and a little personal.
9. Painted Pear Number
This is one of my favorite unexpected ideas. You take a real pear and paint the number in white right on the skin, then set it beside some soft garden roses.
It’s such a pretty option for a fall wedding or one at an orchard, and it works well for vineyard venues too. You can swap the fruit by season, so think apples, figs, or persimmons depending on when you’re getting married.
Just make sure you use paint that’s safe for food, or a marker made for food, especially if the fruit is going to sit out for a while.
10. Embroidered Hoop Number
Embroidered hoop numbers have such a sweet, handmade feel. Small oval sewing hoops get hand-stitched flowers along with the number in colored thread, then hang from a small gold hook.
I love pairing these with wildflowers and vintage linens for that handmade look. You can hang them from a small stand or lay them flat, and using a different flower design on each hoop adds some nice variety across your tables.
11. Felt Flag Number
Felt flag numbers are such an easy, budget-friendly idea. They’re small triangle-shaped flags made of cream felt, attached to wooden sticks, with a bold number printed on each one. You just push them into place like a plant stake.
Stick them right into your flower arrangements, small vases, or even a food display. The neutral cream color works with almost any colors, which makes this a great pick if your wedding is more casual or country-style.
Sentimental & Personal Table Numbers
If you want your reception to feel like it’s telling your story, these wedding table numbers do exactly that.
12. Photo Timeline Number
This is one of my favorite ways to make your wedding table numbers feel personal. Instead of a plain number, each frame is labeled “TABLE” with a year, like 2015 through 2022, paired with a black-and-white photo of the couple from that year.
Use years that actually mean something to you, like when you met, your first trip together, or when you got engaged. Keeping all the frames the same gold color ties everything together, even though each photo is different.
13. Dog Photo Number
This one always gets a laugh and a lot of compliments. It’s a framed black-and-white photo of the couple’s dog wearing a bow tie, along with a small paper number sign.
It’s such a sweet way to include a pet who couldn’t be there in person. I like setting it on the table with some greenery, and pairing it with greenery and warm candlelight around the room.
Playful & Themed Table Numbers
These wedding table numbers bring in a little more personality, and they’re great if you want your reception to feel fun instead of formal.
14. Scrabble Tile Number
I love this one for book lovers or people who love game night. Wooden Scrabble letters spell out the number as a word, like “Twelve,” sitting in a small tile rack on top of a stack of old hardcover books tied with string.
Spelling the number out as a word instead of a numeral adds a fun, personal touch. Pair it with stacked vintage books, string, and warm flowers like dahlias for a cozy, country look.
You can use real Scrabble tiles or ones made to look just like them, and both options work just as well for this look.
15. Playing Card Number
This one’s a fun pick if you’re going for a game-night or Alice in Wonderland style. It’s made to look like an oversized playing card, using a suit symbol like hearts along with the word “TABLE” instead of a plain number, all in a soft cream color.
It works really well for a card or casino-themed reception, or any kind of Wonderland-style wedding. I like pairing it with amber and smoky glass candle holders to keep the lighting warm.
16. Vinyl Record Number
If you’re a music lover, this idea is so much fun. A real vinyl record acts as the base, with a card on top reading “Table 11” in a retro-style font, paired with little disco balls scattered around.
Pair it with disco balls, colorful candles, and warm lighting to really commit to the retro 70s look. I always tell couples to look for records at thrift shops so they feel real, not brand new.
You can use a real record or one made to look old, with a printed label sticker or a card on top for the number.
17. Cut-Out Number Card
Cut-out number cards are such a bold option for a wedding with deep, rich colors. The number is actually cut out of the card, so you can see the shape of it. It stands out against deep velvet fabric.
Light it from behind with a candle and the cut-out shape actually glows, which is such a nice touch for evening receptions. Pair it with deep velvet runners, black candlesticks, and white or pink flowers for contrast.
They fit beautifully into a fall or winter color scheme.
Destination & Lifestyle Table Numbers
For couples who want their travels or venue to shine through, these wedding table numbers add a little extra story to each table.
18. Travel City Number
If you and your partner love to travel, this is such a nice way to bring that into your reception. Each card reads “TABLE 3” alongside a watercolor picture of a city, like Amsterdam, with its name printed underneath, held up in a thin gold wire stand.
Instead of a plain number, pick a meaningful city for each table, maybe places you’ve traveled together or places you want to go. Pair it with matching illustrated place cards, and it looks especially pretty with blue and white flowers.
19. Wine Bottle Number
This is one of my favorite ideas for a vineyard or wine-bar wedding. A wine bottle gets a custom label reading “Table No. 12” along with the couple’s new last name, styled just like a real wine label.
It’s perfect for a vineyard venue or a casual outdoor reception. Pair it with eucalyptus greenery and candlelight, and you can either use the bottle for pouring during dinner or let guests take it home as a keepsake.
Finding the Right Fit for Your Reception
However you decide to go, wedding table numbers are one of those small details that make a big difference in how your reception feels. You don’t need every table to match perfectly, either. I’ve seen couples mix a few of these ideas together, like pairing vintage plates with lace ovals, and it still looks like it all goes together as long as your colors and materials match up.
My best advice is to pick whatever feels most like you and your partner. Whether that’s a stack of vintage books, a photo of your dog, or a bottle of wine with your new last name on it, your guests will remember little touches like this long after the wedding is over.
