Disney costumes are having a serious moment right now, whether you’re planning a Halloween party, a themed birthday, or you just want a costume idea people will recognize the second you walk in. There’s a Disney character for every personality, from classic princesses to villains to the perfect couples costume.
I pulled together 18 of my favorite Disney costumes and organized them by category, so you can find exactly what you’re looking for. Let’s get into it.
Disney Princess Costumes
1. Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
Belle’s yellow dress is one of the most recognizable Disney costumes out there. The off-shoulder mini dress with the sweetheart neckline gets the classic look across without going full ballgown.
Add long white opera gloves, pull your hair back with a small bow, and carry a red rose for the finishing touch.
Soft glam makeup and a bold red lip tie it all together. This is such a great pick for a solo look or a princess group costume.
2. Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
Ariel’s mermaid look is a favorite for beach parties, and it still fits right into any Disney costumes lineup for Halloween. A purple or navy seashell top paired with a teal mermaid skirt gets the silhouette right.
I love draping the skirt with pearl strands and adding a starfish accent for extra detail. A DIY shell top made from a bikini top works great, and pearl body chains plus a red wig take it all the way.
It’s a fun option for a couples costume with Eric too.
3. Snow White
This Disney costume mixes a few unexpected pieces and it works so well. Pair a blue brocade corset with a yellow mini skirt for the classic Snow White color combo.
Add a red bow headband, white knee socks with little red bows, and black heels.
Don’t forget the red apple prop. It’s a small detail, but it really sells the whole costume for a storybook theme.
4. Moana
Moana costumes are perfect for a beach or luau themed party, and they still work for any Disney costumes roundup around Halloween.
A tribal print bandeau top with a white wrap skirt gets you most of the way there. Layer on shell and pearl necklaces, add a flower crown, and go for beachy waves in your hair.
This is one of my favorite options because it feels effortless but still looks put together, and it works great as a group Disney costume too.
5. Princess Leia (Star Wars)
Leia might not be a classic animated Disney princess, but she carries the title, and Disney owns Star Wars now, so she earns a spot right here on the list.
A white bell sleeve gown with a fitted bodice and flared skirt gets the classic look.
The side buns are really what sell this costume, so don’t skip them. This is such a fun pick for a Star Wars theme or a group sci-fi costume with friends.
Storybook & Fantasy Costumes
6. Alice (Alice in Wonderland)
Alice’s costume is simple but so recognizable. A blue dress with a white ruffled apron and puffed sleeves is the base, and a black bow headband finishes the look.
White socks and mary jane style shoes keep it feeling true to the character.
This is a great pick for a Wonderland group costume with a Mad Hatter or White Rabbit alongside you, and it also works well for a family Halloween theme.
7. Tinker Bell (Peter Pan)
I love how easy this Disney costume is to pull together.
An olive green satin slip dress with lace trim does most of the work, and attachable fairy wings make it instantly recognizable. Style your hair in a tousled high bun and add some shimmer highlighter for that fairy glow.

8. Cruella (101 Dalmatians)
Cruella is one of my favorite Disney costumes for anyone who wants something a little dramatic. The half black, half white wig and the dalmatian print faux fur coat are the two pieces that make this one instantly recognizable.
Pair it with a fitted black dress, pearls, and red gloves, then add a cigarette holder prop for the full effect.
Bold red lips and sharp winged liner finish it off perfectly for a Halloween party or a glam night out.
9. Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty)
Maleficent’s horned headpiece is the statement piece here, and honestly the whole costume builds around it. Go with an all black outfit and a high collar or cape for the dramatic shape.
A fitted black dress with cutout detail works well, along with dark, dramatic makeup and a deep red or berry lip.
This is such a great pick for a villain group costume or a dramatic solo look.
Disney Channel & 2000s Throwback Costumes
10. Hannah Montana
This one is such a fun throwback and it always gets recognized right away.
A cropped Hannah Montana graphic tee paired with a purple sequin fringe mini skirt is the base of the look. Add fishnet fingerless gloves, tinted sunglasses, and a toy microphone prop.
This is a great choice for a Y2K or Disney Channel themed Halloween party.
11. Kim Possible
Kim Possible is a great pick if you want something a little more low key but still instantly recognizable. A black fitted crop top with olive cargo pants and a hip pouch recreates her mission outfit.
Fingerless gloves add to the look, and a small plush animal on your shoulder is the detail that really sells it as Rufus.
A red wig is optional, but it’s a nice touch if you want extra accuracy.
12. Mia (The Princess Diaries)
This costume references the look right before Mia’s big makeover moment, that classic princess in disguise idea.
A cream corset style romper is the base, paired with a jeweled tiara for a fun contrast between geeky and royal. Add sunglasses and retro wired headphones to complete the reference.
If you’re not going for that specific before and after contrast, this can also just read as a glam princess look on its own.
13. The Cheetah Girls
This is one of my favorite group Disney costumes because everyone gets to pick their own color. Coordinate different colored velour tracksuits, like blue, yellow, pink, and purple, one for each person in your group.
Layer a leopard print bralette underneath and leave the tracksuit open, then add a matching bandana headband.
It’s such a fun throwback look for a 2000s girl group costume.
Disney Couples Costumes
14. Wendy & Peter Pan (Peter Pan)
This is such a sweet couples costume idea. Wendy’s look is a light blue nightgown style dress with a sash, simple and easy to recreate.
For Peter Pan, go with a green tunic that has a jagged hem, a tied waist, brown pants, and a small feathered cap.
Brown boots finish the look, and it works great for a Peter Pan themed group costume too.
15. Troy & Gabriella (High School Musical)
This one is instantly recognizable and so easy to put together. A custom Wildcats basketball jersey with white shorts covers Troy’s look.
For Gabriella, a simple red dress with a white denim jacket over it gets the reference across right away.
I love this pick for a throwback movie couples costume. It’s simple, but everyone will know exactly who you are.
Disney Group & Family Costumes
16. The Incredibles
This is one of the best Disney costumes for a bigger group or a family costume. Matching red long sleeve bodysuits with black waistbands and the classic black and gold emblem get the superhero look right.
Black boots and gloves add the finishing polish.
The emblem is easy to DIY with iron on lettering, which makes this a pretty affordable option for a whole family or squad.
17. The Muppets
I love this one for a trio costume. It gives everyone a totally different look while still being part of the same group.
A green dress works for Kermit, and a brown or tan outfit with a hat and scarf covers Fozzie Bear. For Miss Piggy, go with a pink dress, a pig snout headband, and a feather boa.
This is such a fun, family friendly group costume idea, and it always gets a laugh.
18. Lilo (Lilo & Stitch)
Lilo’s hula costume is perfect for a sister or family costume, especially if someone else in your group goes as Stitch.
A red bandeau top with a green raffia or felt hula skirt is the base of the look.
Add a leaf headband and anklets, and carry a Stitch plush for instant recognition. This also works really well for a luau party if you want something a little more casual than a full Halloween costume.
